How many arms?
Five or six arms suit most dining rooms; eight to twelve suit large rooms and double-height spaces; the largest pieces have 18 or more lights. Use the room formula for the diameter.
Which bulbs?
Most traditional chandeliers take E14 candle bulbs. Clear bulbs sparkle; flame-tip bulbs give the most traditional look. Use 2700K warm white.
Crystal, glass or painted?
Crystal designs are the most formal. Blown-glass designs such as Brigitta and Danieli feel lighter. Painted and antiqued frames such as Corte and Firenze suit country and rustic interiors.
Fixing
Traditional chandeliers can be heavy; check the weight and have your electrician confirm the ceiling fixing.
