Linear pendant lights

A linear pendant is a long, suspended light that spreads light evenly along its length, so one fitting can light a whole kitchen island, dining table, desk run or meeting table. This page lists Ideal Lux suspended linear luminaires (the Steel and Office families) and multi-light linear pendants such as Minor linear and Odeon linear. Connectors, kits and profiles are listed on the product pages as accessories. Showing 47 fittings.

How long should a linear pendant be?

Choose a fitting about two-thirds of the length of the table or island, centred. A 2.4 m island suits a linear pendant around 1.5–1.6 m long. In offices, check whether the model can be joined end to end for continuous runs.

Direct or up-and-down light?

Direct (mono-emission) models put all the light down onto the surface. Up-and-down (bi-emission) models also light the ceiling, which makes the room feel brighter and reduces contrast, a good choice for offices and kitchens with white ceilings.

Accent or wide optics?

Ideal Lux ACCENT optics focus the light and reduce glare (the Office ACCENT versions are rated UGR under 16); WIDE versions give a broader, softer spread. For desks and meeting rooms, low-glare optics at 3000K or 4000K are the usual choice.

Hanging height

Over a table or island, hang the bottom of the light 75–90 cm above the surface. Over desks, 70–80 cm above the desk is typical.

Questions

How long should a linear pendant be over an island?

About two-thirds of the island length, centred, hung 75–90 cm above the worktop.

Do linear pendants need a separate driver?

Some LED linear luminaires do. If one is needed it is listed on the product page under What you need with this fitting.

What is bi-emission?

Ideal Lux's term for up-and-down light: the fitting lights both the surface below and the ceiling above.

Are linear pendants good for offices?

Yes, especially low-glare ACCENT versions at 4000K over desks and meeting tables.
